Who has Luv for the Lyngdorf 2170 and is thinking about the 3400.

Its $5 per month.Well worth it .
I have over 20k songs 90% are in .wav format . JRiver will even upsample to DSD on playback,if the 2170 will take it .
The initial ripping is the hardest part .They mostly pretty much tag themselves about 90 plus percent of mine didas long as you are connected to the internet . .Once this is all done you have so much more at your fingertips. Sorting , making playlists giving them a rating from 1-5 stars , Categories or Genres,The Smartlists , Car Radio type of buttons that you can set. .ETC It does take a little time to learn but , no streaming issues..etc.You can go wired or wireless.
The system with automatically categorize most by Genre ,Artist and Album.Once it is done , you can do some creative things.
I was like you until I finally bit the bullet .It took me about 2 weeks every evening and weekend to get mine all labeled Album covered and tagged (it finds most all of this automatically 90 % of the time ) .Plus with your PC hooked up to your TV you now have a Media Server , Internet Browser .etc Youtube and all the like .
I encourage everyone to do this . I have helped several people that live in my area get started... even one who was pretty computer illiterate . Now after about 6 months of use , they all say that they cannot live without it and are glad they took the time to do it. :).It is well worth the Time ,Effort , Pain and Suffering .

Please don't grey9hound!  I appreciate your encouragement.  You have inspired me to educate myself on what's out there.  So as to not get off topic, I think this would be a nice topic for a new thread.

@kdude66 Can you kindly share how you were able to get Lyngdorf play DSD 512? I still can't wrap my mind about this. Are you able to view the DSD 512 bit rate on the 2170 display? I can only see up to DSD 128 on my 2170 display on I click "info" on the remote and no sound plays if I upsample further. What ASIO are you using that allows you to do that?

This is very odd to be honest. Does it require a new firmware update to enable this? Given 2170 doesn't use FPGA, are they using a new chip that supports DSD 512? It's such a big feature that I would expect Lyngdorf to announce it publicly.

I haven’t got around to experimenting around with my system enough to give you a clear cut answer.

I’m not viewing anything other than dsd 128on the 2170’s screen but with my most powerful pc using Roon and HQ player and upsampling pcm or Dsd 64 to either Dsd 256 or 512 the path in Roon clearly shows these.

My newest and best sounding pc doesn’t have the horsepower to upsample beyond Dsd 128.

Now As I have stated before I greatly prefer all upsampling to be pcm 32/384, this gives me the best sound overall.

Dsd to my ears is just too smooth and I loose some snap,pop and realness,Just my opinion.

My pc uses windows server 2016,Roon Server,HQ player,Audiophile Optomizer,Fidelizer and nothing else.

I use a Ethernet cable coming from my Audiovox switch into a SOtM ultra 200 USB renderer and a USB cable from SOtM to the 2170.

I don’t use Asio,I take advantage of the simple Kernel Streaming.

I don’t have all the answers that may help you,I’m still learning all this high tech stuff myself,I was a old Analog guy for many yrs until about 6 months ago,in the meantime I have sold everything Analog related including large record collection.Yes my digital is that good.
