in life its all about priorities. We should accept that certain people make it a high priority to enjoy music at the highest level. Others give priority to cars, yachts, houses, or spending time with the family. Ideally you can do all, however, as we know it, most of us won't be able to do so. (including myself) We also know that the law of diminishing returns always and everywhere applies, so yes, it will be much more economic to avoid the absolute highest end, and buy 2-3 levels below that. But we should accept those who wish to spend their hard earned money the way they are most happy with it, without criticizing endlessly, and always knowing better how that money should be spend. What is "stupid" for some, may be the most clever thing to do for others. Let's all be happy, enjoy music the way we want it, and yes, I agree with @mgattmch, it is an absolute astonishing experience to listen to the "highest" end audio, in a proper room.
