I own both including a linear power supply for the Brooklyn DAC+. The Manhattan II is just much smoother while also sounding more full. The Brooklyn has a crispness about it. It’s really great. I’ve compared it to numerous other Dacs and it’s definitely a great DAC. Is the Manhattan 3x better? I don’t think that’s how Audiophile pricing works. On a sufficiently revealing system (especially full range speakers) you’ll hear the difference but it’s not like the difference will reveal some magical new layer to the music. It is, however, worth it to me. Love them both though! |
I owed both Manhattan II, and Brooklyn DAC+ with a 200W @ 54,000uF filtering capacitor, high power transistor output at DC12V @ 16A max linear power supply. the difference is very obvious in my system (Bluenode to DAC to McIntosh MC275 to Dynaudio Conference C2 Platinum) that Manhattan II is just much smoother, softer in high but also cleaner in high, and full texture overall. Soundstage is much wider and vocal / instrument separation is much better articulated. To me it’s instant noticeable they are like 75 vs 95 difference that you can feel it.
