Hi brayeagle,
I found your post about speaker wiring:
It got me to thinking about why I believed lamp cord was good enough and recalled that I had looked at Roger Russell's "Speaker Wire" discussions http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm. This was back when I was listening to easier to drive speakers like Advents, Paradigms, and Magnepans.
If I had thought to refer to Roger's " Maximum Wire Lengths For TWO CONDUCTOR Copper Wire" chart when I purchased the CS5's, I would have been hearing better music for the last couple of years!
Thanks for listening,
Dsper
I found your post about speaker wiring:
"... I began to use DYI speaker and interconnects - - top Belden wire with the best connectors I could get...Belden AWG 10 for speaker wiring..."I just replaced 16 gauge lamp cord on my Thiel CS5's with 10 gauge multi-strand copper wire and I can hear an improvement! Better detail that provides more decay and presence.
