Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?

I recently purchased a pair of speakers that I showed to a non-audiophile female friend of mine. She said they looked beautiful and asked how much they cost. When I told her, her jaw dropped. She then asked if I was using them to pick up hot chicks. Hmm...I told her the only people who get turned on by my audiophile speakers are balding middle-aged men. She had a laugh, but I wondered if anyone tried to impress a girl with his stereo system. High end is a male dominated hobby like sports cars. So have you found a woman who was turned on by your system. I have had no such look. I just get blank stares when I talk about my hobby to women.

"...that all changes once you make the commitment..." Isn't that the case with anything when you commit to a woman? Sigh...
No. Are the colors of fingernail polish a turn on for men? If you shut your eyes, can you tell her the color of her shoes?

Whew, not my speakers...big ass industrial-looking towers with no grilles. My speakers are the type only a man could love.

But, I have a feeling that if I owned a set of the big Maggies in black, they might turn on a few ladies.....they are beautiful speakers and could pass for an art installation.

There are obviously women audiophiles - this place is testament to that - it's just that I have never met one. No women I have ever come across have shown the slightest interest in Hi-Fi sound or gear aesthetics. Mind you, precious few men have either.
I think what we have here, are some lonely(no offense and it is not a general statement):o) audiophiles who have spent big $$ in Audio gear (much of the high priced gear reviewed in Abs. Sound and Stereophile)and have made that their priority - rather then going on a vacation to a resort or cruise they use that $$ for the next speaker cable upgrade. Then wonder damn I wonder if that MIT or Tranparent filter Box would look cool hanging next to my Magico Mini's and hope that when they do get that girl home
She'll say what is that - it is so cool.
Audiophile responds by saying - cool huh, speakers cost 22K and cable and cool box 8K. Hey lets go out to dinner - but lets take your car cause my 20 year old SAAB with 200K miles on it does not have the AC working and has a loud klang sound when going up to speed. Do you prefer TGI Fridays or Chili's ?

Sorry :o)I just had to. Much had to do with the guy who wrote into Abs. sound on priorities for an audiophile.
