Hello, In terms of sound and resale which system would you choose 1 to 5 year old electronics and 35 to 45 year old speakers or vise versa? Resale could be each component of the system or system as a whole. Assuming everything is very good quality and condition.
No 35-45 year old components or speakers unless totally redone by someone who knows what they are doing please in which case they are essentially like new.
Optimize sound AND resale? WTF? If it sounds good don't sell it. OR regret it. If you want to get most of your money back, don't buy in the first place. Then you'll have 100% of it. If you don't spend it, all you got is a pot of gold. You would feel better philanthropizing.
