@jeffvegas

Each Technics is different and if someone prefer wooden plinth then SP20 or SP10mkII can be mounted in any custom made wooden plinth with any tonearm. Slate plinth also possible, even cast iron plinth.

Vibration from a platter? Do you know the weight of the Technics platter or Technics turntable itself ? This is not your plastic belt drive toy... Comparing Technics (very well damped) heavy or even superheavy platter to belt drive turntables with lightweight platter is nonsense.

And we can put heavy (2.9kg) Micro Seiki CU-500 copper mat ot top of the Technics platter without any damage to the bearings and no effect on torque.

Do you really think that several generations of engineers of the Denon, Technics, Victor, Pioneer have no idea what they have been doing for 100 years ?

Even a lightweight platter of Denon DP-80 is not that simple if you will look how many layers did they use to design such platter. There is a damping material between the layers.

If a Direct Drive could spread harmful vibration to the platter then it would be impossible to make any vinyl record!

A master disc lacquer cuts on Neumann lathe with Technics Direct Drive motor under the platter, the cutter stylus above that.

Constant argument about vibration from a well designed DD motor that can be picket up by a cartridge is 100% BS !

Before posting nonsense do your search first and read something at least if you don't have (or never tried) a well designed Japanese Direct Drive turntable (no matter what brand).
Not everyone is a Technics fan. Myself included for my own reasons. Read the OP's thread. He didn't mention Technics, you guys did....
