Today's Listen:
Elvin Jones / Jimmy Garrison Sextet -- ILLUMINATION
with / Prince Lasha(clarinet & Flute), Sonny Simmons(alto sax & english horn), Charles Davis(baritone sax), McCoy Tyner(piano)
A drummer and Bassist leading a Jazz group?
'nuttin' out jones' by Prince Lasha
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVEVoKsd6Go
'oriental flower' by McCoy Tyner
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTky5aRNcMY
'aborigine dance in scotland' by sonny simmons
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRHmx3YmutI
Some of Trane's old crew, but no Trane. :( The more I listened to it, the more I liked it. The 'oriental' and 'scottish' tunes were a cute touch. The notes called it "afro-Scottish", cringing here.
Cheers
