The worm in the bottle thing was a marketing gimmick that was used to get tourists who didn’t know any better to buy cheap Mezcal (producers of good Mezcal do not put worms in the bottle) that was of poor quality and perhaps as some have speculated a ploy to get gringos to eat worms. Talk about a genius idea, which in the context of this thread is both ironic and amusing.
