Ethernet cable question

OK, at the risk of starting a big debate, I have just a dumb question: I see a lot of post talking about Supra 8 and Wireworld ethernet cables, so are you talking about cables making a direct run from your router? I have Cat 5 run throughout my house by me when our home was built 8 years ago. Everything is finished in the home and my sound room is not real close to where I have my network router/modem. So does the ethernet cable going from the wall to my Node 2i make any difference if inside the wall is only Cat5e?

I have a 80 feet Belden Cat7 run from the router to the streamer. When I installed  SOtm sNH-10G network switch and dCBL-Cat 7 ethernet cable next to the DAC. Awesome improvements, so much less muddy, overall staging so relax and distinctive. This prompt me to add a cheaper Angel silent bonn n8 network switch next to the router using the ethernet cable provided by the bonn n8 kit. Again there was a step improvement.
I agree with the above post, Ethernet cable differences are there but it's very subtle stuff and you need the right system to stand a chance of hearing something at all.

However a good Ethernet switch between your bog standard router and your system can make significant improvements relative to Ethernet cabling. Then further down the line if you want to go deep in an Ethernet cable you only need a good short one for the last connection.

I recommend uptone audio Etherregen,  you can try it on 30 day terms if you don't like it it's going to cost you return postage. $660 thereabouts, I put a linear power supply on mine and got another good jump in SQ.
Hi discopants,  In my set up, my Modem / router and a giga bite switch are both in my office remote of my listening areas.  I also have my Nucleus+ in my office direct to the router.  Then cables (cat5E) travel through walls to my  DAC / Streamer endpoints.
1) Will the Etherregen improve this system?  Does it go between my router and switch, and if so should then all important stuff come out of the switch and not the router?
2) Does adding a better cable (cat 8) downstream of a Cat5E cable improve things (from the wall jack to the DAC /Streamer)?
Thanks!  Ken
I dont know much about ethernet cables but I do have experience with using them and the cable between the wall and router making an improvement.  I used the SoTM cable with the filter between the wall and a SoTM router, it was a big improvement over a simple Cat5 cable.
I also have added an Etherregen and it is worth the money.  I found it is best between the wall and the SoTM router.  I am not sure how important the cable is before the Etherregen is.  In spite of what Uptone says the SoTM cables between the Etherregen and SoTM router and the cables after the SoTM router to my music servers make a night and day difference.
