Jazz for aficionados

Jazz for aficionados

I'm going to review records in my collection, and you'll be able to decide if they're worthy of your collection. These records are what I consider "must haves" for any jazz aficionado, and would be found in their collections. I wont review any record that's not on CD, nor will I review any record if the CD is markedly inferior. Fortunately, I only found 1 case where the CD was markedly inferior to the record.

Our first album is "Moanin" by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. We have Lee Morgan , trumpet; Benney Golson, tenor sax; Bobby Timmons, piano; Jymie merrit, bass; Art Blakey, drums.

The title tune "Moanin" is by Bobby Timmons, it conveys the emotion of the title like no other tune I've ever heard, even better than any words could ever convey. This music pictures a person whose down to his last nickel, and all he can do is "moan".

"Along Came Betty" is a tune by Benny Golson, it reminds me of a Betty I once knew. She was gorgeous with a jazzy personality, and she moved smooth and easy, just like this tune. Somebody find me a time machine! Maybe you knew a Betty.

While the rest of the music is just fine, those are my favorite tunes. Why don't you share your, "must have" jazz albums with us.

Enjoy the music.

An old seaman that sailed the world and met women of all types, once told me: Mary, you have to remember once for all what we, men, are facing with. It is simple. I’ll tell you. "No money, no honey."

Ok, I understand, I said, but of how much money we are talking here? :--)

Because, there is the difference.

Of all the things on the world, the worst thing that happened to "humanity" is, money. Too much money, to be more precise, because you have to live out of something, air is simply not enough...

"The best things in life are free, but you can keep them for the birds and bees, now give me money."

Too much money twists people that much that you can’t tell anymore is that a person you are talking to or something that used to be person. What a waste of talking.

Where have all the people gone? I need two cows, three sheeps, few chickens and a donkey. Come to think of it, this could be a song title...
I am count on you guys to buy my new CD.

Meanwhile in my headphones...

The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes, he was, he was, ooh, Lord knows, he was (yes, he was)

Good morning/afternoon mary_jo

I see you have money on your mind. And Dusty Springfield in your ears.

One of my favorite "money" songs as well as a great bass line.
