Tony Williams was (r.i.p.) one of the greatest drummers to ever sit behind the kit. And Jack DeJohnette is no slouch as well and last I heard he is still with us.
And you can't go wrong with Allan Holdsworth (r.i.p.) or John McLaughlin who I can easily put in the same category as Jimi Hendrix (r.i.p.) or Jeff Beck when it comes to technical virtuosity.
