New Dac

Had a Rotel Rcd 855 for years, Finally got a Rcd 1572, some Material I miss the 855's Smoothness. What would be a good upgraded Dac for the 1572 to be used as a external Dac.Thank you

At the right price, say no more than $500-$600, still a lovely DAC.
I’ve owned one since 2014. Currently have it in my second system. Had it in my main rig from 2014-2019. Just be aware of its limitations.
PCM only (i.e. doesn’t do DSD). Very limited USB input (tops out at 48kHz). Toslink input good up to 96kHz. Coax input good up to 192kHz.
For Tidal or Qobuz or some such especially via Coax, or handling rips of redbook CDs, still a very capable DAC.
+1 jazzman7. I owned the BDA-1 for 7 years. Used it with a USB/SPDIF converter for computer. Coax otherwise. Great PCM machine. Many inputs. Balanced and single ended outputs. I sold mine a year ago here on AG for $700 I believe. Maybe a little less. Great PCM DAC at $600.

You miss the 855’s analogue smooth sound, because it’s R2R Multibit TDA1541 converter, which is bit perfect when converting 16/44 24/96 pcm (RedBook)
The RCD1572 is Wolfson Delta Sigma which gives a facsimile of pcm.

Get another R2R dac like Schiit, Holo, Denefrips etc etc.
Schiit give a 14 trial period also
