+1 jazzman7. I owned the BDA-1 for 7 years. Used it with a USB/SPDIF converter for computer. Coax otherwise. Great PCM machine. Many inputs. Balanced and single ended outputs. I sold mine a year ago here on AG for $700 I believe. Maybe a little less. Great PCM DAC at $600.

You miss the 855’s analogue smooth sound, because it’s R2R Multibit TDA1541 converter, which is bit perfect when converting 16/44 24/96 pcm (RedBook) The RCD1572 is Wolfson Delta Sigma which gives a facsimile of pcm. What would be a good upgraded Dac for the 1572 to be used as a external Dac.Get another R2R dac like Schiit, Holo, Denefrips etc etc. Schiit give a 14 trial period also Cheers George |
