They were designed as an active speaker initially so I guess it makes sense that the active is generally preferable. Colloms seems particularly keen on Naim power amps - having used them for many years myself, I dont miss their ( to me) rather relentless sound. BTW I think the expensive cables he mentioned appeared even more expensive due to the length he used.

I was trying to keep the whole system to $10K. Did someone say active Moabs?
