tweeter control L pad

Is no secret , that old time loudspeakers supply with L pads , as all amplifiers supply with treble and bass control. It was era Hi Fi sound. Now is High End time. Most of the amplifiers ( some exception)  no   tone control. Majority loudspeakers also , exceptions   high cost  loudspeakers got jumpers to get 1,2 or 3 db controls.    Another hand, when folk listen   some famous brands still complain -sound is too sharp or too dull, no transparent .  I decide to install in all speakers L pads,   What do you think?

Make yourself happy.

My biggest issue with adjustable L Pads is not performance but reliability. They get scratchy/noisy and subject to burn out over time.

A better approach if you can afford it and have the space is multi-position switches. The contact/wipers are much beefier, and you can use your own resistors, overrated for wattage of course.
I'm a Mac guy, I'm a L-Pad guy.. simple.. They CAN be a problem usually from NOT using it. I move L-Pads once a month on the gear I'm using.

I lube L-pads on stored gear pretty good along with silicone treatment for the foams, before I decommission gear.

A cotton swab of peppermint oil goes a long ways too. Rats hate peppermint oil. I hate rats, squirrels, mice, moles, hamsters, gerbils, minks, ferrets, weasels, or nutria NEAR my gear..  Peppermint oil, no critters. I'm happy, they are too..

The reason for the little story, a buddy had a rat in a pretty expensive speaker that was stored.. The passive radiator on the bottom was blown out and it was stored in his garage, we couldn't figure out WHY the L-Pads (BOTH) quit working on one speaker.. That's right! They chewed pissed and crapped on EVERYTHING. I fixed it for him VMPS RM40s.

LOL I was gonna buy them, I wound up selling a pair of mine to him..
I forgot about those.. GREAT speakers..RM40s

@erik_squires  i just gonna make post   but  @oldhvymec  made good post before me. I agree, L pad  is better to use very rare ,may be one time according to you taste and  acoustic room performance . In this case  no any issues with L pad
