I have a custom built mahogany audio cabinet that a friend made for me 40 years ago. It's very heavy, sits on leveling feet and my Technics tt sits on springs on the top of it. It's also fairly tall, so I can use the tt without bending over. The bottom shelf has LP's in it...for convenience and for extra mass. It also has a drawer...for my record care products, spare cartridges, etc. |
Really heavy marble and stone slabs. One long thick marble slab rests on 8 cones which stand on the concrete screed. Then some stone verticals between which stand the pre- and phono-amps and a SACD player Then a thick stone roof to support the TT and CD player. Isolation by mass loading. Cheap and effective. Don't go tech or springs with Mr Boingboing |
