Most of this can be avoided by wiring your system on a separate spur connected immediately after the supplier's fuse and connecting all the house mush further down another line.
Most of us have done that.
Of course that won't protect you from your neighbour's mush coming in along the electric company's line, but the source of that is a long ways away so it will be at a much lower level.
