That Other Audiophile Website

I failed to mention. I returned the cd player to the seller. It cost me $105 in shipping charges.

The truth will set you free:

Made a low offer on listing which was accepted. Unit listed as near mint for cosmetic and working condition. Buyer complained of cigarette smell after receiving the unit and wanted to return even though unit works and looks like new as listed. I was unaware of the odor or would have noted in the listing. However listed stated no returns and buyer forced the issue through PayPal. Buyers negative feedback indicates smoke damage which is an outright lie as there is no damage whatsoever. Unit could have been easily cleaned to remove odor which buyer was unwilling to do. Unreasonable to expect a used 12+ year old piece of equipment to not need cleaning of some sort.

" It cost me $105 in shipping charges."
Good, consider it a fine for annoying us with these 3 lame threads.
Everything I get I clean with either scent free or scented baby wipes!

If it was in NM cond, and worked, I would have kept it.

I bought my flagship player used, pioneer dv-79avi, had a slight cigarette or cigar smell, wiped her down with baby wipes, opened her up, oiled the tray rails w a toothpick of oil on all moving parts with synthetic oil. Blew it out with compressed air, (didn’t need it)
She sits in my rack and I’m hoping to get many more years from this top tier cd/dvd/sacd player.
The Pat travers Japanese mini LP CDs, simply are perfection!

if it was wrecked, or heavily scratched, return it.
a smell of smoke, meh, not a huge issue …….
