Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

All serious aside, I have a crazy number of trombone-featured records.
@sbank what are some of your favorites?

@spiritofradio A few that come to mind are:

Count Basie - Basie Jam (J.J. Johnson). awesome hifi bargain on Pablo!

Louis Armstrong - Plays King Oliver

Tom Waits - Swordfish Trombones

Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool (J.J. Johnson & Kai Winding)

@sbank

Kai & JJ Baby!   Yeah, I have all of those except the Tom Waits.  I’ve heard it because I was curious but should revisit it with an open mind.  The Basie is great I agree.   So, do you know the work of Bill Watros?  I think I have all or nearly all his records.  Just love what he does.  Writes good charts too.

Btw, that first Impex record, Kai & JJ, with Bill Evans on it is, well, it’s a favorite.

@sbank

“Swordfishtrombons” streaming it now.  Not much trombone actually.  You were pulling my leg, right?   Why I think I have way more trombone music than generally thought to be prudent… most people not into it.  Why at 15 Years old I sold my fancy horn and bought a guitar.  Better around the campfire…
