@bjesien Agreed, I think Oscar Wilde said it best (and he only needed 6 words):
"Brevity is the soul of wit."

mr_m 1,3,4,2 makes the sound better! (Yes, I’m kidding)MC is/was a source of considerable Knowledge/opinions but when derived with a sledge hammer or a scolding ...you can guess the rest. Proselytizing to the point of being shrill is a turn off. (My speakers, Amp(s), room, car, political leanings are the best = Zzzzzz)

Hello, I’ve not been posting much. For those of you who are looking for someone who is contentious across a wide spectrum, so you can rally on one side or some given other.. well I can help out if you wish. I can throw my hat into the ring and be a good sub, if necessary. I’m a bit unflappable --- too much audio forum scar tissue. Which makes me a good target or rallying point. I’ve been posting and arguing about audio, on line, since the early 90’s. I’ve known and thrived in the brutatily of the audio interwebs almost a decade longer than anyone you’ve ever dealt with. In almost all instances and times, as a singular target of a broad swath of frothing outrage. Which means the same thing it always does: Beware an old audiophile in a realm where young men puke out early.... So, if youse all (any of youse) feelin’ the loss of MC and George, let me know. I can provide that old timey feelin’.... |
Do I miss MC on this forum? Yes, I do. Was he arrogant? Opinionated? Exasperating? Politically incorrect? Disruptive? Yes, all that and more. But it seemed like performance art; I mean, who in his right mind would appropriate a photo of Einstein as his avatar image that wasn't deliberately trying to provoke? You haters, get over yourselves! Enjoy his posts for what they were. And what were they, besides exasperating, and all the rest? Well, for one thing, always articulate and witty; MC raised the entertainment value of this forum more than anyone else. AND he was well-informed about audio. And generous with advice, publicly and privately. His advice didn't always work for me, but it was always intelligent and worth trying. The very fact that he remains a topic of discussion in his own right, contentious or not, is something of an accomplishment. Forums like this are not just about their nominal subjects, they're also about the personalities who participate. And none was more colorful than MC. I hope he returns. |
