To be clear, Whammerdyne is still in business and developing new products. They did however discontinue the model you bought is all.

A lot of people are put off by the low power output of his (the whammer) amps. I was too. My downstairs living room system is a rather standard McIntosh/B & W system running at 600 watts/channel. So I was skeptical of his low output amps. No longer. I was able to score his lat Truth amp at 4.2 watts/channel. Absolute sonic bliss with Horning (98db) speakers. It's about matching the right set up. |
@sauvie4007 how are you enjoying your Truth amp? |
Loving the Whammer! Currently running some NOS Sylvania "spring top" tubes, gives it a little more bass than the stock JJ. I also tried some NOS RCA single plates, which were awesome, but I wanted to save them (not sure why) and feel that the Sylvania's are not really a step back at all. I also snatched a pair of NOS Sylvania "Green Leaf" tubes, that Pat recommended, but I haven't tried them yet. The NOS market is tight, so if you can find a good set of tubes, grab them. |
