You Want Affordable Hi-Fi, try this set-up.

I’m only a few hours into listening to my new Wharfedale Lintons but I’m pretty happy so far. This is what I might call my 3rd system (I use it the most compared to my bigger systems). The Lintons and a Rogue Sphinx V3 integrated. Let’s see the Lintons are $1500 and the Rogue is $1700. You’ll need stands, I bought the Linton stands but there are cheaper choices. Let’s say $3400 with stands. Add your source and you have a very satisfying system. I’m not sure if that is a lot of money for young people but I think you could spend 10K and not do better. There is good affordable stuff out there.

Yes, I think that he said that it would be around $700 or so, but he showed the measured improvement and it looked impressive. I almost bought a pair of Lintons last year because I like the big box British monitors. (I just bought used Spendor SP100's) I just know that if they were mine I would yield to the temptation to upgrade them if I had the money of course.

If it was my only pair of loudspeakers or they were in my main system I might, but I have better loudspeakers if I feel the urge.

Lintons were my first speakers back in early 70's. Nowhere near current ones but the name bring back memories.
