Hey, if you can swing a Felix, those phones could easily be justified.
This probably never happens to you guys....
My friend and neighbor very kindly loaned me a pair of Audeze planar headphones. Only thing I knew about the company was that I was not quite in that tax bracket and really I am very happy with my Grados. So no way am I going to fall for $4000 headphones.
Anyway... went to my desk listening area, fired up a Feliks amp (which also has been doubling as a wonderful pre for my desktop system) and cued up some music.
I was blown away. I mean really blown away. It was unbelievable. I listened for almost 90 minutes. I had firmly decided that I must have this. It was like a chorus of angels had settled in my skull and was producing music the likes of which I had honestly never witnessed. But it was more than that... The imaging and soundstage were ridiculous. The music was all around me, not just between my ears. Stranger still, the very well controlled base could be felt in the depths of my spine. How was this even possible?
Turns out I turned on my desktop amp accidentally so both the headphones and my desktop speakers (which I really like) were playing at the same time.
Maybe I should always listen this way?
