Those that upgraded from Tekton

What did you move on to?

I think it’s time I move on from my DIs, I really like how they sound but they are just too big and opposing for my room. Would be interested in something front ported as I have a room that is wide but not deep (speakers are 8 ft away from listening position and only 1 ft from back wall).

Was thinking Cornwall IV maybe or something from Salk but those might not be an upgrade from the DI.

Up to $5k budget and prefer used. Powered by Line Magnetic LM805i

And please don’t come here just to talk crap about Tekton……….

I do own Tektons the ps 12 and the impact monitors, I both like them.Lately while iam playing music to my Andra that has graphite on them, cabinets are excellent, no distortions or ping sound that is originating from the cabinets. The quietness added to the musical satisfaction. Back to Tektons I would hope their cabinets will be built better though the price probably will go up. So If I will get rid of my Tektons , I will try magico between $6k to 7k budget used.

OP with your gear there is a listing at Agon Omega Super Alnico with sub for $2900 .

I’m not a fan of how Tektons look but they do have a solid following here. Which leads me to believe that they just might not be right for your room. Take a good look at your room and be realistic about what’s going to sound good in it.

Having said that, I had the Songtowers and they were amazing in my last home and less so in my current room in my new home. The Tannoy I have now are better but are 4x the price. But they aren’t as good as the Salks were in my old room.

I believe the Song 3 line is a big step up from the Songtowers. It was on my short list before I got Tannoy. I think Salks generally are easy to place. I could place the Songtowers right up against the wall and they sounded great.

You will never fall out of love with the Salk finish quality...just amazing. They are all just tried and true proven designs and you have some flexibility in the spec of the finish, crossover components and drivers.

Talk to Jim Salk...I think you will be impressed with the Song 3 BeAT

The biggest problem I see with the Salk is their 86db efficiency.. Your 48 wpc amp will have a big load on it.

^^^^^The Volti Razz sound really good in the small hotel room at axpona, something many large speakers didn't do, and they're affordable.

Forgot all about the Volti Razz, might look into that a bit more as a smaller alternative to the Cornwall.
