Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

I brought my copy of Groovin' to Jim's house (Tomic) yesterday.  It sounded much better yesterday than it did on my rig last week.  I will clean it again in my Degritter tomorrow, this time on the full "Heavy" clean cycle and listen to it again.  I think maybe a more moderate volume level may be a better way to listen to it.  I don't believe it ever was a reference recording quality, so the remaster/reissue can only make the best of what the original tape has to offer.  The music is fabulous and brings back a lot of good memories.  I would prefer to keep it.

I'll check out the YouTube review, as suggested.

@sourpuss123

May I suggest that you contact Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio.  He is not only a wealth of knowledge on what you are seeking for a good opinion, but I believe that he also has a Model 7.  He will give you the best advice on what action to take (or not to take) in order to maintain the best value of the unit and not depreciate its place in this world.

Best of luck to you.

@slaw Hi Steve, no I have not heard Dean’s latest solo work.  Maybe I’ll look for it next Saturday when I wander out for RSD second drop (18 June).

Finishing up with my thoughts on on "Groovin’"....

Side, four. The bass that I wished for previously, is now present. It makes for a more complete listening experience. Throughout this entire lp, I never turned the volume over 12:00, which is high these days But not out of line for a MFSL lp.

Side 4 is the superior sounding side. Next time I’ll do a deep steam before listening It’s a keeper.

I need to say that for a $60 lp, there should not be any quality issue at all!!!

@mammothguy54 thanks! I bought some Mullard 12ax7’s on his recommendation and put the Telefunken’s in my guitar rigs (just kidding, they are in storage). I’ll give him a call on Monday. It’ll probably cost me some interconnects as I’ve been wanting to ask him about that as well.
