Outdoor/pool.deck system

Recently purchased a home with a pool area, nice covered patio. I'm looking to do a nice little reasonably priced system to stream music from a phone. My initial thought was to get something like a bluesound power node and a couple of ceiling mount speakers for the covered area. Should do the trick for pool days, backyard parties etc. I do have a blue sound node used for streaming in my main rig, so I thought it would be convenient to be able to stream same music inside and outside at the same time. At least I think that's how it works...

Just curious what my fellow HiFi'era are doing for outdoor systems. Are there any particular speakers you can suggest? Is there something that I should consider other than a power node?

Thanks for any opinions on the matter!

assuming you can protect the speakers from the elements, i'd probably simplify and go with a couple of powered bluetooth speakers, which will spare the need for a separate amp and streamer. you can spend as little as a hundo on a pair of edifier (which sound surprisingly good) or spend more for audioengine, vanatoo, etc.

If it were me, I'd go with that thought. You might want to think about how much quality, loudness and speakers you'd like the outdoor system to have. In outdoor home patio systems like this, stereo is many times no longer important, and actually doesn't make sense (due to no one sitting in a stereo sweet spot), so consider a mono system. You might also want to consider a (typical PA) 70 volt system. They're really easy to DIY. These 70-volt systems have all sorts of volume controls for outdoor applications. There's plenty of info on the internet to help you along with setting one up.
