Thoughts on high current power cables for amplifiers Audioquest Dragon vs Isotek EVO3 Ascension.

It seems like a lot of people praise the Dragon

Anyone who drops that much money on a power cord without even considering the basic science that shows them to be a total scam can probably be counted on to buy $5000 in gift cards to get themselves out of a jam with the IRS.

@invalid : my mistake! Actually a 14 gauge cord can pass lots of current - if only for milliseconds! It will get hot briefly! Enough to melt the insulation? Possibly! I wouldn't use it for arc welding!

@jhnnrrs : at last! Someone not afraid to speak the truth! The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) should examine the spurious claims made by the power cord purveyors.

Since a 14 gauge cord can briefly pass high peak currents there is no point in using an 8 gauge or lower power cord unless you are into welding!

It’s got very little to do with amperage.

The only way to buy power cords is to borrow a bunch of them and try them out with favorite tracks and trust your ears.
