Posted the desktop system. I am a Carver fan boy and the Sunfire preamp/Carver amp makes those JBL 230's sound huge. The soundstage extends from floor to ceiling as well as wall to wall.

Another reason to go with active speakers, notice the XLR and RCA inputs with the toggle switch:

Now I can run the pre-outs from the Sony TAZH1-ES to the RCA inputs. It has its own remote control so it doubles as my dedicated two channel system, tada!
