Why isn't better quality used gear being made available?

I've been scanning used gear for a while trying to look for an amplifier and a line stage pre-amplifier. To me it seems like quality higher end gear being made available is Limited.  Maybe it's a good thing that all this quality gear I'm looking for doesn't want to be sold .

I have never been able to find used cables that are what I'm looking for from transparent, cardas, ect,  or other worthwhile brands in the mid to upper price ranges. I guess people keep their old used cables in a box and don't even bother selling them . Maybe it follows that Quality used components sit on a shelf in someone's basement not being sold. It's tough giving up quality audio components even if you don't plan to use them and maybe keeping them around as back up or for a third listening room that never happens.

Its secretly being bought up by big corporations and then taken to the scrap yard so that you will eventually have to pay their outrageous.prices for the new stuff.

Truthfully, it costs too much money to build the new gear as well as the older gear and smart audiophiles see this and hold on to it.

This forum truly needs an Ignore Member Feature. A few I would like to ignore and I would be filled with joy if a few ignored my posts.

I recently heard a rumor that the secret used audio equipment cabal is expanding  their reach into philately...

OP you did not list the specific amp or linestage or cables you are looking for.

If you were truly serious about buying anything, this is what most people do, and when they get motivated place a want-ad or reach out to the mainstream used dealers.  Low-effort will get you nowhere.

Emergingsoul, what websites did you conduct your search? Offerup, Ebay, US Audio Mart. I have used Ebay on occasions.

On Ebay there was a buyer that asked the question: Does anyone sell anything on this website that actually works I did however buy a Conrad Johnson MF 2500A amp for a ridiculously sum of $559.00. He had no feedback and cancelled his Ebay membership immediately after I sent the payment through. What he sent in the mail was a blank piece of paper in an envelope that was tracked to my residence. I contacted  Ebay and they immediately sent me a full refund. I was lucky that EBay had this guarantee.
