how many ways to hook up a subwoofer

Im buying a New Pre-Amp and it does not have a connection for a subwoofer .

How many ways are there to hook up a sub? Can you still run a cable from main speakers to a sub? Will that cause stress to your amp or speaker? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

You can run a wire from the back of the Amp to the 'High level input' OR (my preferred method) go from the speaker with a short wire to the High level input.

Don't worry, the high level input just needs a tiny bit of signal and puts NO strain on the amp. The sub amp does all the heavy lifting.

@ozzy ,

would you mind mentioning the model number of the Jensen ISOMAX? I have a vintage system and that might be a good option for me, thinking of adding a sub to it.

thanks

Sure, it is the Jensen ISO-MAX SP-2SX 2 channel unit. I however am using 2 of them since my subs are very far apart.

@chiefsteward1 you can run wire from your amp to the speakers and then from the speakers to the sub.The sub first then on to the speakers will work too.I use a y connector from the pre so I can make use of the built-in equalizer in the sub.There are a few other ways to do it also.
