I have a couple of Rel T5x subs that are great but don’t go as low as the SVS SB 1000 does. While I’ve never owned one, like @soix I’ve never heard of the transformer whine in them. Rhythmik subs get a lot of recommendations as well and are in the same performance and price range as the SVS.
Adding a sub
I’m looking to add a sub to my setup
A 4 wpc Decware Mini Torii and Ref 3A de Capos, room is 12x20 and open to part of the sides. not looking for HT sub rattling sound.
I want to add a fuller sound to my existing speakers.
Im thinking of a side firing, sealed sub under 300 watts
I looked at the SVS SB-1000 Pro but transformer whine seems to be an issue
any thoughts? TIA

Oh and I would recommend getting two. I’ve done both the single and dual subs. Two is much better, better soundstage, imaging dynamics. It’s weird but two seem to make everything better. I’m sure there are folks on this forum who can explain it, I haven’t researched it so I can’t but I have experienced the effects. |
It certainly does make a big difference. Likely why every mastering and recording studio, theater, concert and club venue that I’ve ever played in or visited uses the direct unobstructed low level output signal from pre-amplification. |
