Wire break-in safe without speakers?

I need to break in some interconnects and some speaker wire.  I was thinking about putting an old CD player on repeat for a week.  Is it safe to connect the CD player directly to an older NAD power amp, without speakers, just the speaker wires sitting on the floor and letting it rip?  Not wanting to drive the family nuts.

"You are correct. But the cables will not "burn in" without a completed circuit–speakers or a load."

Ok this makes sense.  😎

Would the RCA cables break in just hanging off the playing CD player?

- No, has to have a completed and live circuit ...

I have looked at getting a cable cooker device for at least a couple decades… I alway have balked at the price. In retrospect, it would have been a great investment and saved an enormous amount of time. If you have a good system… it is probably worth it.

If you contact "Luminator" over at the Audio Asylum forum, Lummy will condition your cord of cords with the Cable Cooker for a fee & return shipping.
