Is it best to isolate??

Just picked up a Audio Research cd7 and I whould like to get the most out of this player!Does isolating cd players really make a difference?I was thinking of the symposium rollerblocks with the titanium bearings under this player.I have heard that sometimes you can overdamping components and I don't want that to be the case.I'm using a Michael Green rack that is built like a tank already...

You can overdamp but isolation helps. I use FIM cups with tungsten carbide ball bearings under my DAC and transport. Use only one with marble tile on top of the ball bearing. Based on Barry Diament's design. I have a Star Sound rack which is also very heavy and filled with steel dust. Still helped.
I was not clear, I use three but they come with a top and bottom with the ball bearing intended to be between them; I only use one piece as I have found that to sound better, as a side benefit you get twice as many with only additional ball bearings to buy.
I have never experienced "over dampening". Only with speakers, not components. Isolation will make a difference IF the situation calls for it. Heavy components, that have isolation designed into them, will likely not improve with additional treatments. Also, are you thinking of isolation from external sources OR from the same source? There is a difference.
You must decide if you like what various isolation devices will do to the sound of your system. Many say its best to isolate and I do use isolation, but I'm still not sure whether the difference they make is audible or a positive difference.
