The right speakers closeness to the side wall may be a problem on a speaker as revealing as Magico.
Magico A3 or A1+Sub
Considering purchasing either Magico A3 floorstander or A1 bookshelf + Rel sub (Magico asub gets set up with computer and seems overly complex). A key advantage is these are fully sealed and fairly shallow (10-12 inches) and speakers will need to live about 12 inches max from wall. I have no experience with subs and could only fit one sub if go that way.
Would appreciate any guidance on what would produce best sound quality?
Thanks,
Dokosan

If your plan is to position the speakers as they are in that photo, it’s a waste of any high quality speaker. Open floor plan rooms are a disaster anyway. Add placing the speakers so close to the wall, and one in the corner, and the situation gets worse. I know I’m being a Debbie Downer, but I wouldn’t spend that kind of coin for speakers in that room to realize 60% of their potential. |
@ozzy62, @stereo5 Understood. For Floorstanders, could get maybe an additional 5-10 inches from right wall with moving console. Not sure if that is sufficient. That is why, in my limited room, the question of if A1 which could go on the console would be better overall than A3. Thoughts? Could add a single Rel sub in the right corner. Get that this is suboptimal but seeking to make some lemonade here. Appreciate your guidance. |
OK thanks for the info on the room. @ozzy62 get some coffee and make sure the glass is half full....LOL. I have a couple of thoughts on how approach this and make use of your excellent Sim gear.
If you're into EDM you will really want to hear the mid-bass and even upper mid-bass (the deep bass is a foregone conclusion) and the stand mounts will not get you there. I would go for floor standers and add a sub in the future when the funds allow.
The room is tricky but your current layout needs to be changed. You stated the speaker are 9' apart and your listening position is 7' away which puts you "nearfield" That setup requires special speakers and are not what you're currently considering. Your speakers are just too far apart to allow them to do what their capable of. If this was my room, I would swap out the wide tv cabinet for something that would allow the speakers to be closer together. The speakers should be no more than an equilateral triangle from speaker to speaker to listening position. Good luck and cheers. |
