I'd buy and use the C4 and M2 pair. Low noise, low distortion and significantly more power than the Brio. Plus having a separate preamp gives you the option of an upgrade later. I have a Yamaha preamp in my collection and liked it.
Rega Brio R vs Yamaha M2

Being quite a neophyte, I honestly relied on the advice of my trusted salesperson in purchasing Rega's Brio R, and despite a perception of greater detail in the sound, I was very disappointed with the power and the object itself.
As of today I would be opting, to purchase a Yamaha m2: https://ibb.co/y0zYks7 - https://ibb.co/sQz0v23 with also a c4 preamplifier, and reading the specifications of these items I should have a palpable sound upgrade over the Technics and Rega, both in terms of power and sonic detail. Unfortunately, I remain hesitant because the purchase would be online.
Below I leave you with a few considerations read between the two amplifiers to understand from you as well whether indeed the sonic upgrade might be important.
Rega Brio-R:

@sls883 , I made my purchases in Warwick, RI. THE Adcom sounded much better with my Vandersteen 2CE speakers at the time, then I moved on to Classe’ amp and preamp. |
@stereo5 That was probably the same Tweeter chain. I lived in Maine at the time, but I think the store was in Portsmouth. I went from the Adcom and NAD to a Coda amplifier and conrad-johnson tube preamp. Speakers changed to Von Schweikert VR-4. |
With my RX Five speakers (Rega) Impedance: 6 ohms Power handling: 110W per channel I'm already experiencing issues with my amplifier (Brio R - probably underpowered), and the Yamaha M2 would probably provide too much power for my speakers, so I'm considering the M4 instead. The M2 can deliver approximately 312W into a 6Ω load. A Yamaha M4 would output approximately 145W per channel at 6Ω. will be less performing than the M2, but I believe it would match better with my speakers. |
