For fans of John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra

That includes yours truly.  So it was fun when I discovered this site.

I saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra live in 1972 but had long forgotten the date.  Still, the concert is embedded in my memory as it was one of the best I've attended.  So when I stumbled onto Walter's site I was pleased to find his diligence created the full concert listing.  So if you are a fan and ever saw them live, post your experience too.

HUGE fan here!

Saw them with original lineup at the The Santa Monica Civic here in Los Angeles in 1972. And again in 1974.

Saw them again with the MKII lineup in 1975.

I saw The One Truth Band at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in 1979.

I saw McLaughlin, Al Di Meola and Paco De Lucia at the Hollywood Bowl in 1981.

Unfortunately, for various reasons, I never got to see Shakti.

For me, Inner Mounting Flame, Birds of Fire, Apocalypse, Lost Trident Sessions, Vision of the Emerald Beyond, are timeless recordings.

What I don’t understand is why a box set of live M.O. performances has never been released. As far as I know, all that’s officially available is the concert in Central Park. Surely, more shows were taped, given their popularity at the time!

I'm envious!

You may be interested in the band, Aurora Clara from Madrid Spain.

They certainly not trying to hide their influences, but the do it so well.

They even have Jerry Goodman guest on several of their albums.

This is from 2019, from their debut album.
