Need help, what am I missing???

Hi, All,

I just got my Hermes, connected it, did the setup via I2S and thought I was good to go. Here is what I had before Hermes:

Elite CD player via Coax to Pontus

Brennan B2 via Toslink to Pontus

Eversolo DMP A6 Master via USB to Pontus.

 

So I add Hermes and run I2S from Pontus to Hermes. I set Hermes to 000 and play streamer and voila music plays.

I take Toslink from Pontus to Toslink In on Hermes. I play Brennan - nothing

I take Coax from Pontus to Coax In on Hermes. I play Elite unit nothing

Then it occurs to me, I still have USB from Streamer to Pontus. So am I totally bypassing Hermes by not going USB to Hermes as well???

 

How should everything be connected?? What am I missing???

As stated above all sources should be connected to the Hermes and the only connection from the Hermes to the Pontus should be the I2S.

You know that feeling you get when you introduce a new toy, you're all excited, you think you know what you're doing...AND THEN...NOTHINGcrying! And the feelings of despair, angst, and desperation kick in? I had that in spades. I was truly in panic modesurprise

Now, elation, excitement and over the moon joy! Fully up, fully running, and could not possibly be any happier! All 3 components operational and sounding so sweet. After @fthompson251 replied in my other thread about the connections it clicked. Everything to Hermes, Pontus set to I2S, dirrrrr kingbr - LOL! 

 

Anyway, I am going to let it run all day while at work tomorrow, come home, pour a glass of wine, batten down the hatches and sit for 4-5 hours for some critical listening. I'll post my impressions if I notice a difference with Hermes...

 

THANK YOU ALL so very much again! Christmas came a couple weeks early. Got that little boy excitement for tomorrow...

@audphile1 how would I configure NAS for the Brennan? The only output it has is Toslink?

It should be automatically. Then access it wirelessly as DLNA via the Eversolo app Best done according to Eversolo documentation.

You can get a wifi dongle if it is not hardwired to router. The dongle will connect to its USB. There should be instructions on how to do it…I don’t own it but I took a quick look and it had capabilities of being a NAS. 
Once it is configured that way, you can get your Eversolo to see it using the Brennan IP address and folder names. I also don’t know if Eversolo has settings for NAS I’m assuming it does as almost every modern streamer in its price category has that feature.
