I had the opportunity to listen to the Acuphase E-550 and E-560 amplifiers in the same setup, using the T+A DAC 200 and Kubala Sosna Emotion cabling.
The E-550 offers a warmer sound compared to the E-560, with bass that is fuller and slightly looser. On the other hand, the E-560 stands out for its greater bass precision, as well as better detail and treble extension.
The main difference between the two lies in their sonic signature: the E-560 is more neutral and balanced, while the E-550 favors a warmer and more organic presentation.
Both amplifiers are extremely satisfying, and I must admit I’m still undecided about which one I prefer. The E-550 may be ideal for those seeking a more warm and natural sound, while the E-560 excels for those who prioritize detail and tonal balance.
Either way, it’s hard to go wrong with either of them.
