Isn’t the amplifier unit of the SOTA eclipse system equivalent to the Eagle amplifier in the Phoenix system? The Eagle makes 25 W, and that is why I use it to drive my Lenco motor. Why not just adapt the SOTA eclipse system? If it’s not 25 W, I am pretty sure it makes more than 5 W and would work better than your present power source.
Does VPI ADS work with Basis Gold Debut?
Anybody out there have experience with adding a speed control to a Basis Gold Debut? Will an ADS (VPI) work with this turntable? I would like not to have to change the pulley for 45rpm., plus take advantage of more stable speed. Basis own speed control is beyond what I'm willing to spend, and of course Basis will not answer whether the ADS will operate with their turntable.

@lewm, as previously noted, the current SOTA Eclipse motor controller can only drive a 3-phase BLC motor. The old Phoenix Eagle drives a single phase motor. |
I used one long time ago with my Ovation. Didnt make much of a difference. I am currently using and older PS Audio power plant 600 for many years. Its been rick solid at 33.5. The adjustment on the older PS Audio doesn't allow precise 33.3. Basis suggested to send the platter bearing in and they could regrind to perfect. Was going to drive there and drop it but never made the trip to the factory. Great customer service and support BTW. |
