can wadia i170 house IPod in protective case?

my ipod classic is housed in a shatterproof plastic case that clips to my belt; i'd hate to have to take the ipod out of the case in order to plug it into the wadia.

can the wadia accept the physically larger size of the ipod (not much larger!) when its in a carrying case like the following?
