Cd transport isolation

Out of curiosity does anyone have experience using different isolation products for transports? My CEC TL51x rests on 4 pieces of masterbase. But I have been thinking about trying out something different like Solid Tech feet of silence or Aurios Pro-Max. Now I’m a bit skeptical about isolation products in general. I haven’t tried without masterbase yet since I had them lying around.

So has one played around with different isolation products van transports or CD-players. Are those products any good? Or is the same investment better spend for isolation of the speaker.

I use a solidsteel H-6 audio rack. The shelves are made of MDF. The rack is very good for its price but I don’t like the looks of de MDF shelves. Can I replace them with “real” wood like maple or some other wood? Would that have an influence? Or doesn’t the material of the shelves have an influence on the sound?

I have the TL51x and I place it on top of a 3/4" UHMW polyurethane platform. Under the platform are 3 FIM ball bearing isolators which in turn sit on top of 1" thick maple platform.

My transport sits on isopods, which are sitting on a piece of scrap granite (from a scrap heap at a local kitchen remodeller's workshop for a few dollars), which is itself sitting on 2x2 rubber/cork/rubber squares, which Mapleshade sells as 'Vibrablocks' for $25 per set. I got mine online for $1.25 a pop. I also have a 2 gallon ziplock bag filled with a 50/50 mix of copper BB's & sand (they are triple bagged to prevent leaks). The bag weighs about 10 pounds altogether and spreads out perfectly over the surface of my transport. I have no jitter issues at all and I'm getting truly outstanding sound that's natural, uncoloured and dynamic from this setup. And I'm using an Oppo DV-980h as a transport and an 18 year old CAL Sigma Tube DAC no less. The sound from this modest $$ setup rivals the sound from my $1700 Doge 6 CDP.

Consider contacting Steve Herbelin at Herbie's Audio. He has a variety of footers/isolation devices and is great at diagnosing a situation and recommending the best solution.
