Thanks for this. I hope we hear from more who were there. I've been a couple times but not this year. I believe it was a new venue?
Tampa Audio Expo 2025
Just attended the Tampa Audio Expo.
The standout speakers that interested me in my price range.
Axxess L1 $3850 pr. Hard to find competition at this price that match their performance. (Borresen design)
Borresen X1 $6500 pr incl stands. These are perfect for the 400sf size room they were in. They sound effortless at any volume.
GoldenEar Triton $6000 pr Really sounded excellent at this price.
Soundfield Audio Mini Monitor $1200 pr and Soundfield Audio 12120B floor stander $7500 pr very good sound paired with Orchard audio Starkrimson products. Another bargain at these price points.
Chesky speakers $1000 pr. sounded very good. Very competitive with much higher cost speakers.
If I had a bigger budget:
Audio Norwegian Loudspeakers Icon 12 $24k? Stunning-Really impactful with a beautiful finish. Competition for Volti. They sounded much better to me than the Volti, but it could have been room interactions. The Voltis were in a very small room for the size of the speakers.
Soundfield Audio line array speakers. Very beautiful. Excellent sound-not sure what the price is but know they are not in my budget.
Tobian Sound 12 FH full range horn $40,000 Really stunning full range sound in a big room. Seemed effortless and scalable to any volume you so desire.
Clarysis Audio Piccolo $20,000 ribbon speakers. Beautiful sound and very attractive.
Clarysis Audio Atrium $750,000. If you have a ballroom and an unlimited budget, they are magnificent.

I attended Saturday with some friends, including some that had never attended a show. I attended this show last year. I thought the big Clarysis were fun, but apparently it is good to hear more than once as they mix up the music. A friend heard some orchestral and electronic music and said they cranked it up. I was on another floor at the time that was played. When I heard them, they were good, but he said dynamics really brought them up. I liked the room with Margules amplifiers, and the room with all Lynn gear and speakers was very good to my ears. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Mission 770 speakers in that room. I also liked the Fyne Audio speakers with the big tube amplifiers (Pathos). One friend said that even at the end of the show, he still liked the Acora speakers room the best (granite floorstanders). The MBL room was good, of course, but quite loud, and I think the large Maggie room also seemed very loud. One person liked some metal-framed planars I had not heard of before, better than the big Maggies. I wanted to show a friend the big Borrensen X3 but they had some kind of video thing going on toward late afternoon, so we couldn’t go in. Also, I missed the new Focal because there was no demo happening when I went it. Just remembered the room this company was in sounded decent, and the amplifiers look great in person. Affordable as well. https://www.advanceparis.com/en/ Very curious if anyone else appreciated the glass speakers by Perfect 8? I listened to his lecture and then heard them later. I really thought there was something to them, but others thought not so much. But they missed the lecture...hmm...hypnosis? Anyway, I thought the extra space in the new venue was good and parking was better, but I don’t know if it made it feel less attended or not. The car audio addition was appreciated by a couple in my group, but I am not sure if overall it is a draw. I think it is definitely worth a trip if you’ve never been before.

@pete23 Agree the Mission 770 speakers did sound very good. The Acoras do sound very good. I heard them 2yrs ago at the Tampa Expo. The Borresen x3 sounded excellent for $11,000. |
