EtherREGEN or LHY SW-6? Anyone compare the 2? Thoughts/opinions?

Hi, All,

So just when I was ready to pull the trigger on the EthgerREGEN, at the last minute I came across the LHY SW-6. Thanks to all who took the time to respond to my previous post about adding an Ethernet switch/power supply.

The only 2 pcs that will be connected to the switch is my streamer (Eversolo DMP-A6 Master) and a Brennan B2 CD Ripper. I also just added 2 Ethernet cables from Pine Tree Audio (solid stuff very reasonable prices)

My final decision has come down to these 2. Both are same cost-wise and I have read great things about both. Anyone compare the 2 or have any opinion as to which direction to go? My only concern is that the EtherREGEN runs very hot. I've always felt that something that runs hot may have a shorter shelf life?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time...

@teknorob23 thank you! Very helpful! I am definitely leaning heavily towards the LHY. Still have not pulled the trigger but I've pretty much decided on the LHY. Yes there is a lot of love for the ER but you're analysis seems spot on, thank you very much for sharing.

no probs, i dont think you'll be disappointed and you'd need to spend significantly more to do any better.  :-)

The LHY SW 10 is no longer available, it’s been out of stock for several months. SW-8 also gone.  I've had the LHY SW-5 I bought from Vinshine a few years ago.

@fthompson251 I was originally looking at SW-8 and came across the SW-6. Alvin from Vinshine said the SW-6 was a much better unit. AND it has the isolated port similar to the ER. SW-6 all the way man!

I laid a digital thermometer on my Uptone this morning and 12 hours later it read 97F.  For reference, I laid it next to the regen for an hour and it read 77F (room temp).  It felt coffee mug hot to the touch.  97F is nothing.  Hell, we’re 98.6!
As for effectiveness, it did little when feeding a n200 streamer from an Orbi satellite, even after months of use.  BUT, used between the Orbi router and the modem, it elevated wifi video (Prime, Netflix) to a degree I never imagined.  It’s like being there.  I mean, Oled is terrific but now it’s supernatural.  I feel as if my eyes refocus at the near and far similar to a soundstage experience with real 3D images, not 2D cutouts.  Wife agrees so it must be true.
I’ll eventually replace it with something that will pass more than 100M.  Patiently awaiting the Uptone gen2 and LHY comparison.
