What makes / defines an audiophile ?

Having followed threads and contributed in several this came to mind since we see definitely passion here!!! It's interesting to touch base on things like this since equipment, power, tweaks tend to dominate postings and for me not been in this hobby for that long is worth a thought. Share your views.

Arcmania: I like your top three!!!! Currently I'm also working on expanding the software part... Some people have very few CD's or LP's compared to the investment in the rest as you point out that it spells for me you lost the root of it which is music!!!

arc - Unofrtunately, I think many have forgotten that #3 is perhaps the most important. My rule of thumb has always been that you should have at least 2:1 software:hardware ratio.

Arcmania I too like your definitions especially #2, (love the guys that switch out cables in the middle of the music). And so far as #3 goes don't you mean someone that has more money in the hardware rather than the software? I'm with Robba on that one.

Someone who loves to listen to music in the comfort of his home, and seeks to have the most involving experience within his given budget. By the way, some of the definitions above I believe apply to equipmentphiles, in my humble view. Sorry but to be honest I simple abhorr their attitude.
