While I do like higher end cables in my main system, I'm very happy with the Schiit cables in my Schiit home office system...they are inexpensive, sound good, and come in very short lengths if that works for you...
RCA ICs with slim barrels are the way to go. I use Darwin Cables as that's their philosophy. The only downside is you can't handle them like normal ICs with their boat anchor barrels.
