I can only add the reconnecting with ancient memories when listening to something like Hendrix which was a regular spin 55 years ago. Like a time machine listening to stuff from my late teens

@richmon  I am connecting to 77 year old LPs.  On my other turntable, I'm connecting to 124 year old shellac "78" records (pre-1925 electrics had various speeds).  I enjoy a good performance on any record, preferably in clean condition.  Also listen to the same on CDs.  Can be thrilling.   

I am on the fence. I've been streaming for years and am totally used to the pure convenience, instant ability to jump into another track or artist, silent backgrounds, digital EQ via Roon and worry free listening- playlists that I create and have hours of music. I recently took the vinyl plunge probably due to boredom and wanting to try it. Not used to the surface noise, pops, ticks, having to clean the record, the extreme care when handling the tonearm and the limited play length, no digital EQ and the pretty constant need to get up from my chair to flip or change the album. So far I'm underwhelmed.
