I really don't want to spend over $1000 for a pair of speaker cables especially when I don't need them 8 ft long. Would it be a bad idea to buy just one cable and cut it in half. One side would be bananas with the other side bare wire?
Why in the world would you spend $1,000 on speaker cables. Serious question. I assume it's because you want them to look really nice; some eye candy in your system. Because it can't be because you think they'll actually sound any better than using a coat hanger. They won't. Shame on anyone here who says (lies) to the contrary.
The reason that you would spend $1k on speaker cables is the reason I spent $5K on speaker cables. Because the incremental increase in sound quality of the system is worth the expenditure. So the cables increases the sound quality more than the equivalent investment in any other component of the system.
How about $30 for two lengths of 10 AWG speaker wire, oxygen free pure copper, 413 strands per conductor, 30 feet long, each. I’ll throw in 8 banana plugs that take #10 gauge wire. Plus actual shipping. Message me if interested. I’ve used this wire for many years. Very flexible, easy to work with.
