Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?

For me there is one that has always been top of the list.

Edith Piaf…..l just can’t think of anything worse.

Do not get me wrong and consider my choice is in any way racist….l love to listen to music with songs in any language… Italian, French, Spanish…..

Russian and German can however be extremely demanding, but Edith Piaf (if possible in any language) is a potential harrowing experience.

Do any others on here have a similar artist, or artists that can trigger the same physical reaction?

mylogic

Ah, because of all the negative comments I had to check out Edith Piaf on Tidal as I had never heard of her. Whoa! Bad - but not any worse than Joan Baez with that vibrato making her sound like a cassette played on a deck needing the rollers cleaned. Wow and flutter much. LOL.

I dislike almost all names mentioned save few exceptions and you can add all popular singers not mentioned save few exception...

I dislike industrial music ...What is called the Pop chart...

@shawnmr2

Don’t like Celine?

Don’t you like the “Titanic Song” My Heart Will Go On?

AAhhhhh…. l can perhaps maybe see why? She could…. Gowwww  Owwnnnn  a bit.

After 25 years it can now sound a bit over the side…l mean top. There is one mitigating life saving fact, only she could nail that high note “diva” ending, now a Titanic sound bite from the period.

I perceive Edith Piaf's voicing/delivery in the context of when it was popular. Her popularity soared in the war years, this is a voice of patriotism, resolve.

Joan Baez sometimes does the vibrato thing to excess, nothing near these 'divas' so popular today, way over the top vocal gymnastics bugs me to no end. Sing it straight like the pop singers of the past, don't need all this additional show horsing.
