Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?

For me there is one that has always been top of the list.

Edith Piaf…..l just can’t think of anything worse.

Do not get me wrong and consider my choice is in any way racist….l love to listen to music with songs in any language… Italian, French, Spanish…..

Russian and German can however be extremely demanding, but Edith Piaf (if possible in any language) is a potential harrowing experience.

Do any others on here have a similar artist, or artists that can trigger the same physical reaction?

Congratulations on your 1st post being a big hit!  Although it did take you 5 years to come up with it.

Now let's see your virtual system!

@macg19

“it did take you 5 years to come up with it”

“Now let’s see your virtual system”

“5 years to come with it” You are so wrong. l joined in 2020 posted twice and was not overly impressed so l left it. This is a very recent surprise success after a near 5 year sojourn. Do some research on your Computer, iPad, phone or whatever.

The let’s see yours sounds very immature. Is yours bigger than mine? My hi-fi is of no concern to others….it’s not necessary. That’s not why l’m on here. Some may consider it high end or on the fringe of that holy grail audiophile label, but I’m quite happy to not brag. I leave that to those who want to show off theirs. Free country. Personally, l never bother to look at any “virtual systems”

A virtual system…. It means nothing to me. This means nothing to me. Ultravox.

@macg19

Oh l forgot to add….

Thank you for posting today, it helps to keep this negative discussion in the charts for a third month.

All things must pass and nothing is forever. It is an inevitability that this thread will die a natural death this month, a mathematical probability. However, these conversations have been like a roller coaster ride. Thanks also to those @macg19 “negative” people out there that have made this discussion so debatable funny and entertaining.

“Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen to?” has made some readers claim they have laughed out loud ( @zx10 for one ) and another even admitted “I nearly pissed my pants” reading some of the crazy comments.

As l have said before, l am sure more people like the artists mentioned than those who deride the performers. Every dog has his day and everyone’s personal opinions count. I am sure no harm done. The artists mentioned will not think for one minute to donate (to any good causes) some of the royalties earned from the said underachieving/offending songs.

Not looking at others' systems seems somewhat shortsighted. It's interesting to see set-ups and gear and get some ideas for both. Plus, sometimes I'm just curious as to what others are using as in-person dynamics with other audiophiles is rare indeed.

@simao A little off topic but an interesting perspective.

l am in agreement with you. I may be shortsighted but l can live without the visual reinforcement. Looks for me are not so important so l don’t care about what others look like. It is the end sound results that are my main concerns.

Two way conversations and personal learning from actual users and using my own ears are paramount in my purchasing choices. I spend more time listening to music  than anyone else l talk to. Some friends don’t even get the idea that someone can just listen to music for six or more hours in one day. Not everyday of course but when l’m in the zone it is totally focusing on the music, and the world is shut out.

Yes it is interesting to see other set-ups and gear but when l am in my element and  my system is doing its job right, l forget the, “is there something missing or better out there” At these times it is only ever about the music and how it revitalises and enervates me.

Yes again to your interactions with others and the dynamics is rare. In my estimation however talking with “music lovers” as apposed to “audiophiles” involves two different conversations and interests.

So l am guilty as charged as l spend very little time looking at other set ups…..l do prefer to listen up close and personal with fellow enthusiasts rather than worry about is there something that is not right, or should be fiddled with.

By the way this discussion has tonight reached 26,000 views. Must play some loud music and have a dance! Anyone for some William Shatner? The Light Years warped album?
